S3 - Episode 4 - Lifting teens OWL the way up with Rebekah TenBrink
As a vibrant and passionate soul, Rebekah TenBrink is always striving to “be the change," which is weird, because I wouldn't change a thing! This OWL-standing woman is the founder and executive director of LIFT Teen Center, a non-profit organization designed to serve the needs of Leelanau County's (Michigan) youth through intentional and engaging programs.
Incorporated in 2017, LIFT has reached over one hundred teens at Suttons Bay Schools in Michigan, and has expanded its after-school program to include a service-learning component and separate sessions for both middle schoolers and high schoolers.
The mission of LIFT is to empower Leelanau County’s youth to discover and embrace their strengths to become kind leaders, by investing in their evolution, autonomy, and character. As a former high school teacher, I fully support this message! And as a former Executive Director, I was incredibly impressed with the vision and direction this teen-included board is taking this mission.
This thoughtfully curated board of directors and their fearless leader, Rebekah, envision the youth of Leelanau County making up a vibrant and inclusive collective of empowered leaders and engaged citizens invested in a brighter future for our community. If that isn't enough to encourage you to hit play on this podcast, well perhaps the LIFT Teen Podcast will get you to tune in.
That's right, LIFT has their own podcast, Generation Perspective, where you can tune in and hear today's youth share their viewpoints and passions! As they say on their podcast, "This world is not one size fits all, and our youth are no exception."
Tune in to hear Rebekah share OWL the exciting things they are up to over at LIFT teen center, check out their first podcast episode at here and don't forget to share "March" your way over to their donation page and leave a little gift that keeps on giving at https://www.liftyouthsb.com/
